Fine and Performing Arts: Dance

Welcome to Dance class!

This class is designed to help you develop an appreciation of dance as an art form and provide you with the skills necessary to pursue dance in high school and in the future. Throughout this class you will learn about various dance styles, influential choreographers, choreography tools and elements of stage performance. Dance is a powerful form of communication and personal expression! You will explore and expand your knowledge of dance by developing skills in technique, improvisation, choreography, performance and critique.


In this class you will:

-Expand your perception of dance and be able to demonstrate a variety of style-specific skills.

-Apply choreographic tools when learning, developing and performing dances.

-Develop personal goals for improving dance skills.

-Increase in knowledge of dance using the elements of body, effort, space, shape and relationships.

-Compare and critique dances in terms of style, structure and design.

-Work to build a strong and flexible body.

-Develop a healthy outlet for stress.
